Hi, I'm Danae!
Hi, I’m Danae, the eyes behind the camera and the creator of the images. I’ve found my passion in capturing the connections between people and their horses, the western way of life, and the stories that unfold in everyday moments on the ranch.
I’m based in Eastern Montana with my husband and our lively crew of critters. Though I grew up in the mountains of Wyoming, the wide-open prairies quickly stole my heart, and I’m proud to call this rugged, beautiful part of Montana home.
When I’m not behind the camera or computer, you’ll usually find me working on the ranch, running my own herd of cows, spending time with our horses, and caring for our cowdogs and chickens. Every part of this life inspires the way I capture and tell stories through my photography.
My Photography Journey
My photography journey started in middle school when I got my first DSLR. I had no idea how to use it, but I took it everywhere, capturing anything that caught my eye—objects, landscapes, and everyday life—just for the fun of it. In high school, I started photographing friends at local rodeos and exploring portrait and family photography.
College slowed my camera down for a few years. Living in uninspiring college towns, I felt like there wasn’t much to photograph. But when I moved to Montana, I dug my camera out and started capturing life on the ranch and local rodeo contestants.
In 2020, I decided to take my photography more seriously. I upgraded my equipment and began working with a mentor who pushed me technically and creatively, helping me see photography in a whole new way. That guidance opened the door to photography becoming my true creative outlet, shaping not only how I see the world but also how I approach my work and business.
By spring of 2021, I took a leap of faith and left my town job to pursue photography full time. It’s been challenging, but deeply rewarding. I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way—helping me turn my passion into a business and live out my dream every single day.
